Racing Louisville FC's Kayla Fischer has experienced the highs and lows of a professional soccer career. The forward made history last season, scoring the team's only playoff goal. Fischer's mentality has allowed her to thrive at Racing Louisville FC, and she's focused on the team's current record of road losses. 'Just take it game by game,' Fischer explained. And she's right, with a great group of players, they can make a great run. Fischer reminisced about her historic playoff goal, 'It was surreal, like obviously playing away with Washington Spirit's fans and everything, I didn't really realize I scored because no one was cheering.' But she's also dealt with setbacks, including a red card last season that led to a three-game suspension. So, Fischer hated sitting out last year, and she thinks she put a big label over herself from that. Despite the rollercoaster, her focus remains the same on the field, 'I think just staying in that mindset and really running with the identity that we've created,' emphasized Fischer. And off the field, Fischer is involved in the community, visiting patients at Norton Children's Hospital. She likes being around kids and giving back to them, knowing they're not always in the best place in their lives when they're at the hospital. Fischer's message to the next generation of soccer players is simple, 'Just enjoy, like, each stage that you're going through. And like if you just work hard every day at that, you'll get there one day.'
